THANK GOD IT'S MONDAY!

THANK GOD IT'S MONDAY!

Happy Monday everyone! After the election results received last week, I sought God about a lot of what I was seeing from people’s reactions. In that time of prayer, this is what He said. Enjoy this quick reminder to Christians during election season 🇺🇸

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 ESV

1️⃣ — “light of the world” = we are called to everybody, not just those who agree with, affirm, or look like you.

2️⃣ — “don’t conceal your light” = before people know who you voted for, they should be able see who you’re submitted to.

3️⃣ — “light to all in the house” = the light illuminates so as to give sight, not to just show that it’s bright. If you want to remind people of Jesus in hard times, act like Him!

4️⃣ — “so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father” = everything you do should point back to God, not your political identity, a person, or your racial identity. Just God.

We are called to illuminate, not eliminate. You can disagree and still be loving. Your candidate can win and you still empathize with those whose candidate lost. Your candidate can lose and you still respect those whose candidate won. You can believe that God is good and still meet people where they’re at.

Instead of saying that you are acting on behalf of Christ, we should see that in the way that you show love, empathize with people, & how you avoid spiritual bypassing.

“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” Romans 12:15-18 ESV

How can you do your best to shine your light and live peaceably with all this week?
